2 Chronicles 20:17 (Part 4 of 4)

Be still and allow God to be God After Jehoshaphat placed his petition before the Almighty; God assured him.

2 Chronicles 20:17 "You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you."

The third step that Jehoshaphat did was to be still before God. You see, that’s what we are commanded to do. When we have brought our request/ petition before God all we need to do is to be still and let the Lord fight our battle against sin and Satan Ps.46:10 Be still, and know that I am God In North America 25 people are killed by bears every year. Bear experts say that when a bear charges you, you need to be still and try to look as big as you can be, or play dead. Many people panic and lose their lives because they run. One of the hardest lessons to learn in life is the art of being quiet in times of difficulties.

Human nature rebels against the words "be still” because we are always looking for a way out. The reason why many Christians fail is because they panic when trouble comes. We panic when sickness comes- some good Christians visits sangomas We panic in financial difficulties and visit the money lenders (micro loans) We panic when our love life is threatened and sometimes contemplate suicide. The ultimate measure of a man or woman is not where they stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where they stand at times of challenge and controversy. Martin Luther King, Jr. There is nothing so destructive and dam¬aging to our spiritual life as worry and fear. The words "be still" literally mean "let be," "desist," "give up."

When Satan comes charging at us, it would be wise to learn from Jehoshaphat and give it over to God to handle him. The writer concludes: “Israel never shot an arrow, never swung a sword, never threw a single spear, and yet every enemy was dead on the battlefield. God’s wrath had slain them in the night and the battle was won. And Israel rejoiced after that.” We serve the same God, He does not change, what was done for Jehoshaphat can still be done for us today when we allow God to be God!

Will you take the challenge this week to acknowledge God when He says; "Be still and know that I am God?" Will you be brave enough to bring your stresses to Him and confidently say; “Lord I know that You will come through for me? God wants us to test Him and His plans for us and has never failed us yet!

God bless
